Shannon is seriously amazing! My family has got dogs from breeders most my life, and has never had this great of an experience. From the day little Penny was born till the day we picked her up, the amount of updates we received about our little girl was unreal! I have had so many friends tell me that they spoke to their breeder once when they made the initial deposit and heard nothing since then. Several times a week over 7 weeks, Shannon would send us a written update, and also would send us some cute photos. That honestly meant the world to us, and also helped us get attached to this little girl long before meeting her. Outside of just the updates, all of these pups are Embark tested. We knew we didn’t want any crossbred heelers, so to have confirmation from the start (including on the outside stud) definitely brought us peace of mind.Most importantly, you can tell that Shannon, and her family love dogs. From an early age the pups are introduced to all the older pups of the house and Shannon’s children. Also, the care she places on finding people for the pups that will love them, and not just discard them at a shelter is amazing. You can tell, this isn’t just a way for them to make a quick buck. She takes a lot of pride and joy in what she does, and seriously does it so well.So if you’re wanting a healthy heeler, with an amazing breeder experience, reach out to Bluebonnet Heelers! All I can say, is wow. These people truly are the best. They took in my pup and his siblings when they were just one week of age. He sadly lost his momma, and they were more than kind enough to let their momma, Ruby, foster them! Not only did they keep him alive, they loved him, truly, as one of their own. There is so much more I could go on about, but I will just say that these people truly care and love what they do. The love they have for their doggies is out of this world. Most amazing breeder I've encountered!! I fell in love with this breed after I spent 4 years with my roommates Blue Heeler, and after I lost my dog, I knew that I needed a heeler for myself. I have had dogs all of my adult life, all from shelters. I also worked for 15+ years in the veterinary industry and seen my share of terrible and irresponsible breeders, so I wanted to make SURE my experience with a breeder was a positive one that produced a companion with good temperament. Bluebonnet Heelers are INCREDIBLY responsible with their breeding program!!! I found Shannon and her family on Instagram and researched them for awhile prior to inquiring about litters. When I did inquire, Shannon was very thorough in her questions about my knowlege and experience with the breed, what type of home the pup would be going to, what type of lifestyle I have/the dog would have (as they are high energy dogs), and if it the pup wasn't a fit for my home, if I would be open to returning the pup instead of shelter placement. This is an AMAZING and RESPONSIBLE approach to breeding - she is invested and CARES about the homes these puppies are placed in and the life that these puppies are going to have; WONDERFUL! The dams and sire are WELL taken care of and have an amazing life on a peaceful farm (with ducks and chickens and all kinds of animals) with Shannon and her family, they are even tempered and socialized, and are VERY happy, spoiled pups!! She is communicative on all fronts, from the time the dams were pregnant, to the impending due date, and birth of the puppies, weekly updates and pictures, instructions on pick-up, and a HUGE swag bag of puppy food and treats at pick up...Honestly, I can't say enough about my experience with this breeder, and my puppy is absolutely PERFECT (I maaaay be a little biased...). Roxie is sweet, rambunctious, and smart! I couldn't have asked for a better puppy! If you are a fan of cattle dogs, have had cattle dogs in the past and are craving another one, ACD puppies from this breeder are one of a kind, well breed, even temperament puppies! If you follow Bluebonnet Heelers on Instagram, you'll see they have MANY repeat customers - their dams/sires are THAT awesome and they produce amazing companions!

I would highly recommend Bluebonnet Heelers to anyone who is looking for their next heeler pup! Shannon does an excellent job taking care of the puppies and getting them ready to go home. She calls them by their name so they can start recognizing it before they go home. She provides updates on the puppies as they grow. Shannon really loves and cares for each and every puppy! The dogs that she breeds are all tested with Embark to ensure the puppies are healthy. All of the puppies are taken care of as if they were her own. They are well-socialized and even start potty training while they are under Shanon’s care. She even gave us a goody bag of food, treats, and toys for our new pup! Bluebonnet Heelers is the best breeder we have ever had! We cannot say enough good things about Bluebonnet and our puppy!

We got our sweetest loving girl, Olivia from Bluebonnet Heelers! Shannon (who’s amazing) provided updates on all the pups through photos, Instagram posts and videos, the whole process was fantastic! You can tell Shannon truly loves the pups to her fullest. Olivia is the world to us and we’re so thankful for the solid foundation Shannon and the Bluebonnet family have to her. I highly recommend Bluebonnet Heelers. Shannon and her family love these pups so much, and you can tell. They also do a great job socializing the pups. It’s been quite a while since I’ve purchased a puppy, but I can’t recall a better socialized than the one we got from Shannon. Beginning the day we picked out our sweet boy, Shannon sent regular pictures and updates (including video calls). It was so awesome being able to see Archer grow up as if we were there. Absolutely AMAZING breeder! BlueBonnet Heelers is on top of everything, from the most important things such as the health of the puppies, nutrition and early neurological stimulation, to taking pictures of the puppies and updating prospective pup-parents through videos and messaging. All questions were answered thoroughly and within a day.
we were also provided a puppy care kit to take home with us and to get us through the first week of puppy ownership!
As someone who cares about shelter dogs and volunteers in my community dog shelter, this is a breeder that I HIGHLY respect. They take all measures to be sure her pups don't wind up in shelters, and are highly invested in their dogs. if at any point a pet parent can no longer take care of their dog, they can rest assure their pup has a home back at Blue Bonnet Heelers.
I would recommend this breeder to anyone looking for a healthy, well care for puppy.

I can’t recommend Blue Bonnet Heelers enough, if you are looking for a heeler check them out! Shannon is so communicative throughout the whole process, even when Mama was pregnant. Mama and Dad are embark cleared before breeding as well. As soon as the pups were born she sent photos, videos, shared live on instagram, always letting us know how our baby was doing. The pups are socialized, Shannon does ENS and starts on potty training as well. Shannon and family treat each puppy as if it’s their own. Lloyd has been home less than 48 hours and he slept in his crate and only went out once last night to potty and let me tell you, he is a potty champ once we get him outside! I’m so thankful for the whole experience and the loving start our boy had in his life thanks to Shannon. By far best puppy experience we’ve ever had.

We purchased a red heeler from Bluebonnet Heelers in December of 2020. I was very pleased with the level of care they provide to the adult dogs and puppies and the emphasis they puts on good breeding. We wanted a puppy raised in a home with children so that the transition to our home would be easier and we got it! Highly recommend!

We got our baby Sophie from Bluebonnet Heelers! Shannon has been amazing in supporting us and keeping up with Sophie’s progress! She’s seriously the best, and I feel blessed to have worked with a breeder who cares so much for her puppies! Can’t say enough good things about our baby. Shannon started potty training before we got her, and she is doing great (she’s 9 months old now). She is very trainable, and is a super smart girl. It also helps that she is a little cuddle bug. If you are thinking of getting a heeler, look no further than Shannon. She is responsible, and does everything she can to make sure she adopts out top notch puppies.

We aren’t sure how we found Blue Bonnet Heelers, to be honest we think the instagram algorithm did its magic and brought them our way. It’s a little scary to think the internet knew to bring Shannon to our iG feeds but we don’t care because it was basically the best thing to happen to us in 2020.Seriously, Shannon is the person you want to get your dog from.To start off with the basics, she knows what she is doing. I’m not going to tell you that Luna came home entirely potty trained at 8 weeks because well, how trained can a dog be at 8 weeks? But I will tell you this, Luna has had less than a handful of potty accidents since we’ve had her, and she’s turning 10 months today! Shannon really puts in the work for these pups and in her own words, all she really has to do is set them up for success, which she totally does. Blue Bonnet Heelers is also the only Heeler program I found in Texas that raises their pups outside of the elements. Not only does Shannon raise them in her home, they spend their first 8 weeks of life with her kids and her pup crew which is SO important for early socialization.Another amazing thing about Shannon, and probably the most important, is that she loves these dogs entirely. She documented Luna’s first 8 weeks of life and for us, that is basically priceless. We have so many pictures and videos of baby Luna! We got to see her grow up and when we picked her up, we felt like we already knew her (lol, yeah right, we had oh so much to learn!). We still keep in touch with Shannon and plan on getting another heeler from her program when the time is right.I noticed that the waitlists for upcoming litters filled out fast and I promise you that there is a GOOD reason for this. Honestly, if you’ve done your research and decided that you want to bring an Australian Cattle Dog into your life, look no further than Blue Bonnet Heelers.We could not be happier with Luna.
